The TouchSmart tx2 laptop is the first in the HP notebook line that comes with the iPhone touchscreen’s multi-touch capability.

The HP TouchSmart tx2 is basically a convertible tablet PC but only it’s added with the multi-touch capability on its touchscreen, meaning that you can use more than one figure to draw on the screen, click icons and access applications simultaneously.

The touchscreen of this HP laptop also uses a capacitive sensor, similar to what the iPhone does, which is highly responsive to only light touches and taps. Some more since it’s a tablet PC, it also comes with a pen that allows the users to do detail work on its touchscreen such as putting a finer point on things.

This laptop runs the Windows Vista as the operating system, therefore it can fully utilize the tablet capabilities provided by the Vista such as write-on-the-screen features.

The laptop is powered by your choice of AMD-based CPUs and HP seems to have omitted Intel for this line. The 12.1-inch screen version is powered by an ATI Radeon HD 3200 CPU, Wi-Fi integrated but no WWAN and offers options of hard drives from 160 to 500GB.

HP has also equipped this notebook with their MediaSmart application which lets users make full use of the multi-touch capabilities. The price of this laptop shall start at $1,150, go on sales now and be shipped at the end of the month.

I like this, I just wonder how well it works. Do you have one? I had an HP Laptop at one point and it died after two years. (Well, the repairs were going to cost over a $1000, so it did not make sense to fix.) After that experience, I have been wary to buy anymore HP computers…but this seems like a really cool product.

Thank you for the great post!
