It’s not new to us that Japanese have some special umbrellas that do more than just protecting you from getting wet in the rain. We’d seen one that was able to let you surf the Internet and equipped with GPS.
And now there is another one which doubles up as a giant speaker to blast your favorite tunes. The umbrella is dubbed as Oto-Shigure. It’s made of bamboo and paper, equipped with built-in amplifier and four small satellite speakers located at the tip of it, to create 3D bubble sound which is only heard by its holder.
The price is definitely more expensive than any average umbrella. The inventors Yusuke Kamiyama and Mai Tanaka plan to sell it at $100 per unit. Those who’ve found carrying an umbrella and an iPod in the rain is simply too troublesome would most likely be interested in this special umbrella.
