Various applications have been made for the iPhone which turn it into a great musical instrument. We’ve seen piano, guitar, drum and now we have a Stylophone here.

Stylophone is an electronic musical instrument- a synthesizer that was invented by Brian Jarvis in 1968 and manufactured in the U.K. by Dubreq. The iPhone app that turns it into a Stylophone is called Dubreq iStylophone and developed by the UK-based company which calls themselves Very cool software company

The Dubreq Stylophone seems to be a pretty popular electronic musical instrument in the 70s and it’d been used by various artists including used by artists including David Bowie, Brett Domino, Erasure, Hexstatic, Krafwerk, Marilyn Manson, Orbital, Pulp, The Raconteurs, and They Might Be Giants.

But the Stylophone might have lost its popularity in the 21st century. Now thanks to the Very cool software company, which has brought the Stylophone onto the iPhone. It shall also make full use of the iPhone’s multi-touch capabilities so you could easily churn out fancy tunes on your iPhone’s touch screen. The app costs $5.95 and will be ready for download in December.
