Motorola VC6096 – world’s heaviest windows mobile-based device?

The Motorola VC6096 is an oversized WinMo device that runs Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro as the operating system.

It’s meant to be mounted on the dashboard of a car, which isn’t meant for end user. The device is specially designed for the work force on the road, for those who are into transportation and logistic businesses that need to deal with inventory.

The device comes with lots of connectivities including Bluetooth, 3.5G GSM HSDPA, WiFi, WWAN to ensure the workers using it always stay connected. It offers SAE J1708 and J1939 ports which are the communication ports that suit any vehicle’s dashboard. The device is also equipped with a SiRFstarIII GSC3ef/LP GPS chipset, which lets you easily track your route and shipment of widgets

Since the size of this device is big, it also gets a much bigger screen than any other mobile devices. The device has a 6.5-inch VGA touchscreen and a backlit keyboard that has 65 keys.

Inside are 128MB RAM, 256MB flash, and a 624 MHz XScale PXA270 processor.And you get SD card slot, five programmable soft keys, mic and speakers too. Price remains unknown and it’s likely to surface in 2009.
