Sony has announced a new e-book reader, PRS-700, which comes equipped with a touch screen display that allows you to flip through pages by sliding your finger across the screen.
The screen of this e-book reader also presents the user a virtual keyboard which is for the easiness to create notes on this reader. Some more the e-book reader will not let you down while you’re in the dark as it’s equipped with a LED reading light that lets you read books in the dark.
Sony plans to have this new reader targeted at college students, which will likely be ahead of Amazon’s plan for a student-version of Kindle. Sony has even announced that the first 100 schools that register for their e-book libraries with Sony will get 5 new readers.
This new e-book reader is modeled after the older PRS-505. It features a high-res six-inch screen, pre-set text sizes, internal memory that holds up to 350 digital books, multiple file format support, and an expansion slot to increase storage. The current version of this Sony’s new reader doesn’t come with wireless capabilities as what the Kindle offers. But Sony plans to include in upcoming versions. Scheduled to go on sale next month for a price of $400.
