China to develope the impossible space drive - Emdrive

September 25th, 2008 by ketyung

Researchers in China stay highly spiritual and ambitious despite the country’s big trouble of the milk scandal. The Chinese researchers wanna develop the impossible space drive, which is called Emdrive (short for electromagnetic drive). If they managed to make it real, we would get the greatest manned spaceship ever that could take you to Mars in only 41 days.

The concept of Emdrive was developed by Roger Shawyer, the British scientists which converts electrical energy into thrust via microwaves, without violating any laws of Physics. An article about it has been published on the New Scientist. But many other researchers argued about the Emdrive was blatantly impossible and they considered Shawyer’s reasoning was flawed.

An Australian Physicist claims that Shawyer’s electromagnetic relativity drive’ violates the law of conservation of momentum, which is similar to the ‘perpetum mobiles’ that have been proposed and disproved for centuries.

Despite many arguments about the Emdrive, the concept is backed by Shawyer’s company, Satellite Propulsion Research (SPR) Ltd and also the Chinese Professor Yang Juan.

The Chinese team had started the development since June 2007, the team is headed by Yuan at Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) in Xi’an. They’re currently building a thruster based on Shawyer’s theories, which is scheduled to be completed by end of this year. Meaning that traveling to Mars to meet up with the aliens wouldn’t be too far from now!
