The best way to cure tumor is to send medicine to the targeted part of the body. Doctors are said to have problems of making the medicine to reach the accurate destination in the required concentration. Today, Scientists have found a way, i.e. by using a nano warship to carry the nano missiles that contain the medicine to kill tumors or cancer cells effectively in your bloodstream.
Researchers at UC San Diego have invented this new way of delivering nano missiles which are able to seek and destroy the malfunctioning cells in your body. Each nano-missile is also called “chocolate-covered nut cluster” making it undetected which can last in the body for hours as it’s protected inside a mother ship, without incurring the wrath of its natural defenses.
Attached outside of the nano missile is a protein called F3, which does surveillance, looking for those target cells. Once those problematic cells found by the missile, it then releases its payload – cancer drugs and florescent markers called quantum dots, which can precisely tell doctors where the cancer cells have been hit.
This smart, nano-sized drug delivery system is said to be able to deliver large doses of medicine (without losing concentration) to the specific region of the body, which shall be more effective than other methods for killing cancer cells such as chemotherapy and radiation. The concept sounds pretty much like it’s borrowed from the tactic used in a “real” war.
