Pinnacle has rolled out a PCTV HD mini Stick which allows you to use it to receive the high-def digital TV broadcast. This is the second generation of the HD TV Tuner from Pinnacle, which the size is slightly smaller than the first generation.
The reduction in size is contributed by the reduction in the size of the components used in the device. This PCTV mini stick allows you to receive unencrypted digital cable TV signal, as well as SDTV and HDTV signals up to a maximum resolution of 1080i. This mini HD stick comes with a high-gain telescopic antenna, which functions as a signal booster to eliminate the signal weakness problems that are commonly found in this type of tuner.
The device also comes with a special software, the TVCenterPro 5, which is Pinnacle’s latest PVR software that allows you to save the content received into MPEG-1/2 or DivX. You’ll also get other bundled software in the package such as the Videospin which is great for editing video recordings. The Mac version of the device comes with an additional software, Elgato’s EyeTV Lite, which allows the same EPG, time-shifting and manual recording. But this version costs $10 more.
The device carries a price tag of $120, whereas the Mac version costs $130, $10 more as mentioned. And they’re made available on Sept 21st.
