Large Hadron Collider or in short known as LHC, the world’s most powerful particle accelerator at CERN, which lies underground near Geneva, Switzerland, was first thought that it would carry out the first collection today which would result “end of the world”. But in fact they didn’t. Nothing happened.
Today is only the day of their first beam test instead of the collision. If you haven’t heard of what the LHC is about, just give you a brief note here. This superb particle accelerator at first was deemed that the crazy scientists within, were going to carry out an experiment to get those pesky particles to collide. Which was to recreate the birth of the universe.
But according to Stephen Hawking, it’d result the “end of the world” if the Large Hadron collidor made those pesky particles to collide. And also worries by public that the machine could cause earthquakes and tsunamis that will destroy the world. The scientists at the research center ever received death threats over this “end of world” experiment.
So, I repeat here again, today is the first beam test not the actual collision, so we’re still alive. Meaning that it’s just an extension to your life, but by how long? These scientists at CERN will not easily give up their plan. They’ll continue their experiment. It’s only the matter of when they’ll do it.
Attached below is the result of the first beam test, first image captured when the scientists at LHC fired up the first protons at at 1028h Central European Time (0428h Eastern Time). And the scientists insist that they’ll carry out the real collision later in this year. If it really resulted “end of the world”, then from now on, you’ll probably have to think of what haven’t you done yet in this world which you’ve been longing to do. And do it within the remaining couple of months!
