Many are aggressively developing great apps for the Apple iPhone. iPhone was made possible as a universal remote control for your home with the cool app called AirRemote, and also it has another cool app that makes it a controller for unmanned military aircrafts. And now the latest we have here is iPhone has been turned into a controller for RC car with the software app developed by two programmers from the Czech Republic.
Once you launch this RC car controller app on your iPhone, you’ll be presented with five big buttons across the touchscreen of the iPhone. These five buttons allow you to move your car in forward, backwards, left and right and the fifth one does something special which activates the the accelerometers in the phone when it’s pressed, which you can then control the RC car by simply tilting the iPhone.
This RC car controlling system seems taking too complicated route for sending its signals to the RC car and involves couple of communications and equipments. It involves little complex stuff which OSCemote is being used here to send data from your iPhone to your computer wirelessly over WiFi.
Once the data arrives at the computer, some software simplifies the data and then pushes it to Arduino via your computer’s serial port. Arduino is the development kit that has a microprocessor, which can then be connected to the remote control and you then get a fully functional iPhone R/C device. Are you lost? We don’t care, as long as it works. There is a video attached below that shows you how the iPhone is used to control the RC car.
