
The world wide web is getting widgetized these days. If you ain’t know what a widget is about, it’s simply a small chuck of code or a little rectangular pane that contains some data such as your blog feed, which you can then attach it on your blog or within your iGoogle or Facebook accounts.
Creating a widget isn’t simple at all for a layman, but with Widgenie, it’s been made so easy, which is what a layman can do by simply uploading a file online, followed by a few drag and drop actions. And you’ll get your first widget, which you have options to embed it on your blog or publish to various social networking accounts such as Facebook, iGoogle etc. And you can share your newly created widget to your friends, share with them and track the usage of the widget.
Widgenie is still at its BETA version. Once you’ve got an account with it, you can then start creating a new widget, which needs you to upload a file that is either in EXCEL or CSV formats if you haven’t done so. When you’ve uploaded the file, you’ll then be presented with options for what widget type that you wanna create. At the moment, the options for the widget type including a tabular, animated bar chart, animated pie chart, line chart, area chart and text cloud widget.

The last few steps are to deal with the design, layout of the widget you’ve just created before publishing them. After you’ve done all that, now you’re ready to publish the widget, which you can options such as embedding it on your blog (Lets say for wordpress, you’ll need to copy and paste the code onto your wordpress blog), send it as a hyperlink to your friends, send it to iGoogle, Blogspot, and Facebook etc.

In your Widgenie account, you’ll also get a Statistic section that allows you to track the usage of those widgets that you;ve created for the daily and monthly usage. As mentioned, Widgenie is still in its BETA version, which currently supports only the uploaded EXCEL or CSV files. Eventually, Widgenie will have more options to include external data on widgets, such as data feeds or your blog and news feeds.
