More and more people in this world suffering from chronic illnesses such as diabetes and heart failure. So, we need to be more aware of our health care. But now, with the Intel’s newly announced personal Telehealth gadget, you can just carry out your own medical check at home without frequenting the hospitals or clinics. The personal health gadget is named The Health Guide, which is a device that weighs at 8 pounds.
The Health Guide is equipped with various connectivities which allow the patients to converse remotely with their doctors or caregivers. This gadget has a 40GB internal hard drive, runs Windows XP as the operating system, and loaded with the Intel’s own proprietary management software, which is called Intel Home Management Suite.
This gadget is also capable of communicating with various medical devices such as glucose meters, blood pressure monitors, weight scales etc, in both wired and wireless modes. Those collected data on this gadget will also be sent in an encrypted manner to ensure the security of the data to the remote server, which medical practitioners can then retrieve the data easily and start their analysis. FDA has given green light to this personal health gadget of Intel, and it’s most likely to be available commercially in late 2008 or early 2009.
