Researchers have been pretty aggressive in developing better cooling system for your computers, which the intention is to keep the computers always cool and perform best for your various heavy tasks.
The latest PC cooler that we’ve just heard of is a miniature “Icebox” or refrigeration system, that is small enough that can fit inside a PC and even laptops. This is hoped to keep the computers cool enough to stay at their top performance, without sacrificing too much space in the computers, and enables computers to be kept with small size.
The Icebox PC cooler is the prototype being researched by the Purdue research team. Their research project is focused on making those miniature components for a super tiny icebox, such as super tiny-sized compressors and evaporators. Such as some tiny compressors have been developed that pump refrigerants using penny-sized diaphragms. The compressors’ membranes are made of very thin sheets of plastic, and coated with well-conducting metallic layer, making it a flexible diaphragm that moves back and forth and produces pumping action using electrical charges.
The miniature Icebox sounds pretty impressive and promising. But they still have couple of glitches to fix before it can be implemented in end products. Perhaps, you’ll get to see it in some Alienware and Voodoo PCs in the near future, once the mini fridge has passed its QA test.
