The Samsung SGH-F480 has got many nicks across many countries, it’s been called “Tocco”, Player Style, or TouchWiz, dependent on where you live. This Samsung cellphone comes equipped with a big 2.8-inch touchscreen, finishes in a standard candybar form factor.
The Samsung F480 is a 3G cellphone, which supports high-speed HSDPA and capable of making video calls. The F480 comes with a leather battery lid which is used to replace the metallic battery lid and also doubles up as the cover for the front of the phone for protecting its screen from scratches. The back of this phone finishes on textured metal. It’s got a 5-megapixel camera that can be found at at the top left side.
The front panel of the F480 cellphone is almost all occupied by its big display. A memory card slot can be found at the left side of the phone, and couple of auxiliary ports, such as data/headphone ports, can be found at the opposite. At the top edge, you’ll find a hold button that is used to lock the touchscreen from being input mistakenly by brushing of your fingers. Other than that, you will also find the Accept/Deny button, and an additional button for launching the menu, found just below the display.
The reviewer claims the phone is kind of handy to use, with its super thin form factor making it nicely fits in your hands. The vibration force feedback of the touchscreen gives pretty impressive and responsive feedbacks.

Software - The interface and the phone’s desktop really makes this cellphone more outstanding than others. It’s loaded with number of customizable widgets. You will get widgets such as profiles, player, time, carrier logo, time, events, radio, applications, gallery, and games. And they can be triggered from the sidebar on the left, moved to any location on the desktop by using drag and drop.
The interface and the widgets allow easy control of various software straight away from the desktop, such as the player, profiles etc. The desktop is highly and easily customizable by the users, and you can dump all the widgets if you ain’t like any one of them, until you simply leave it with an empty desktop. The widgets are simply great but they lack of ability for adding new widget, which is definitely a short fall on this phone’s desktop.

The F480 cellphone is also capable of running Java applications, which is the first in Samsung’s touchscreen phone series. Those Java apps can be round in background too, which the system has no issue at all for launching multiple of these Java apps simultaneously. There is also a virtual keyboard which appears at the bottom of the screen that lets you control the Java apps.
Some other goodies include the additional buttons mentioned earlier, bring handiness for quick launches and shortcuts for the music player, messages, call function, internet and the main menu, which can be called from any screen or app. And similar to the touchscreen locking button, which can be used no matter what screen or app you’re in.
The main menu presents a standard-looking 4×3 grid, which lets you have direct access to various functions including call list, phone book, music player (supports Album arts), browser, camera, bluetooth, other apps such as FM radio, World clock or Music recognition and Java apps installed by user, alarms and settings.
The Bluetooth manager is worth a note, as all the devices connected are given a nice graphical visualization. The phone’s 5-megapixel camera has both autofocus and face recognition features, which allows comfortable controls with touch. And the pictures taken by the camera is pretty up to par or “not bad”.
Overall, the Samsung SGH-F480 is multimedia phone that is loaded pretty exciting features as well as presenting users with great experience. And it’s gained the positive review from the reviewer in overall.
