Hasselblad’s 50-megapixel H3DII-50 camera costs more than $35k
Digital cameras are in the megapixel war these days. Many are striving to outproduce others, to come out with digital cameras that could reach resolutions as high as possible. And the latest we’ve heard so far is the Hasselblad’s 50-megapixel H3DII-50 camera.

Hasselblad now carries the world’s largest sensor with the H3DII-50 camera, which is their latest product. The product is made by Kodak, which measures 36×48mm, that is twice the size of the largest 35mm DSLR sensors.

Besides, the high-res sensor that this camera carries, it’s also capable of capturing images at 1fps while creating 300MB files with an ISO range of 50 to 400. There are also many other goodies, and accessories come with this super high-res cam. Such as a wide range of lenses, 3-inch display, CCD cooling sink for noise reduction, GPS accessory. And you have various choices for the file output format and it supports a wide range of media cards.

Hasselblad is definitely a brand that sounds pretty new to me, which we have also seldom heard of any friends carrying the Hasselblad camera around. It isn’t as popular as those like Canon, Sony, Panasonic. The answer is simply because of its price. It isn’t a camera for average guys. Although Hasselblad has not released the price of the H3DII-50 camera, but it shall be more than $35K, as its previous model, H3DII-39 is about that price. But you can trade in the old model (if you have one) for this new model, and you only pay for the difference.

I first heard about Hasselblad cameras in April. They are surely the cameras for the super rich or the super pro.

Back in April, I mentioned that Hasselblad’s flagship camera is the H3DII which costs more than RM120,000. Swedish camera manufacturer Hasselblad is at the very top of the game, its achievements include being selected as NASA official camera provider: and famously not one but three Hasseblads were carried aboard the Apollo 11 mission. That means possibly the most famous photograph ever taken was taken with a Hasselblad.
