It’s another rugged beast, and it’s a cellphone this time, the Samsung GT-B2700, which is simply to fulfill the need of careless users like you and me. The GT-B2700 comes in a candybar design, which is certified to be well resistant to water and dust.
Samsung says that the GT-B2700 is specially made to target a market that has been neglected for quite some time, which is the market of those careless users, who always drop their phones, or get the coffee spilled over, and even dropped them into the toilet bowl.
The Samsung GT-B2700 is surely able to stand your nasty use of the cellphone. This cellphone is a GSM phone, which seems to be the first one in its new line, which the code name starts with the GT instead of the conventional SGH. Since this phone is meant for some heavy and harsh users, it shouldn’t be expected to come with high-end specs. The specs that can be expected on this phone including quad-band GSM/GPRS + EDGE radio, 1.9-inch 176×220 pixels screen, FM radio, Bluetooth 2.0, built-in compass and altimeter, music player, 1300 mAh battery, 30 MB of internal memory, and a microSD memory slot.
The GTB2700 measures 115×52×18 mm, and is expected to start selling end of the summer for about $330. The phone’s durability has been certified to have met the IP54 level. Which means dust particle larger than 1mm is not allowed into this phone, and it’s also well protected from direct sprays and water.
