Air bag is great, since its introduction, it might have saved many thousands of lives from car accidents. But there must be continuous improvements for better air bags that can give better protections for both the drivers, the passengers or any one who’re involved in the accident, lets say the pedestrians.
The ideal air bag would be one that could provide 360 degrees of protections to those inside the cars when accidents happen. Toyota has come to pretty close to the idea of having 360-degree airbag in their upcoming vehicles. The 360-degree airbag system that is to be brought to us by Toyota is a car that gets airbags almost everywhere such as in the front, back, sides, and even along the roof.
Besides the mentioned positions, you will also get some “external” airbags on the front and sides of the hood, which these airbags will inflate during a frontal impact. The purpose the external airbags is to extend its protections even up to the head of the bicyclists or pedestrians that have been hit by your car. The 360-degree airbag is definitely great, too good to be waited any longer. But too bad, it still remains as a concept for the time being.
