iPhone has lots of outstanding features such as multi-touch screen and highly intuitive UI. But what the current version lacks is the support for high-speed data connectivity. So, the next version of iPhone will be focused on 3G, super high-speed Internet connectivity.
Rumors after rumors are coming up about a 3G iPhone. It surely needs a high-speed connectivity. We’re not talking about 3.6Mbps~7.2Mbps HSDPA or HSUPA. Instead, we’re expecting higher speed, which will be the Evolved HSPA that offers up to 42Mbps on the downlink and 22Mbps on the uplink. And Australian site ChannelNews says that Testra will make Evolved HSPA available for the iPhone by Xmas.
This most probably hints only in 2009 that the iPhone will get 42Mbps high-speed downlink in Australia. As Testra has promised at GSMA Mobile World Congress that they’ll make their next generation HSDPA to be available at speed of 21Mbps for the downlink by end of the year. And 42Mbps using HSPA+ aka Evolved HSPA in 2009.
