NEC ShieldPRO FC-N22A Rugged Tablet PC hits Japan

Rugged computers seem to have great demand these days. Perhaps, our environment is getting worse, and we’re having pretty high chance of getting our computers and gadgets exposed to knocks, scratches, dusts and even extreme weather.


NEC has rolled out a new tablet PC for its rugged line of computers, which is designed to bear with worst conditions. The new rugged tablet is the NEC ShieldPRO FC-N22A tablet , which is made for the Japanese market and is available now. The rugged ShieldPro tablet will feature a low-voltage Intel Core 2 Duo U7500 (1.06GHz).

The ShieldPro is a 12.1-inch tablet that offers a bright widescreen LED display (750 cd/m2) and boasts a battery juice that can last up to 12 hours. The ShieldPro is specially designed to stand the test of bad conditions, offering various protection against dust and water, and can even be operated under heavy rainfall. Besides, its outer case is super tolerable to drop, which it can stand up to from a drop of 90 cm on the concrete floor, without breaking it.

The overall features of the ShieldPro including the ultra-low-voltage Intel Core 2 Duo U7500 (1.06GHz) processor, up to 4GB RAM, standard hard drive, GPS, and those common ports found on computers. And it’s preloaded with Windows XP Professional.
