The Mercury-On-the-Go external hard drive from OWC doesn’t offer any much higher storage than any average USB external hard drive. But it’d be best used for those who always switch between PC and the Mac working environments.
The specialty of this external hard drive is it comes with three different interfaces which are USB 2.0, FireWire 400 and FireWire 800. For those who always need to switch from a PC to a Mac to work on, you can take the advantage of the FireWire 800 port on your Mac machine.
This external drive houses a 2.5-inch 500GB hard drive that spins at a speed of 5400RPM. The drive comes included with three different cables to suit the three different interfaces. It measures 3? x 5.5? x 1?, weighs 11 ounces, driven by the 924 Oxford chipset and offers a data transfer rate of up to 800Mbs. It carries a price tag of $360, which might sound little pricey to some people. But if you want a drive to be flexible enough to follow you to switch in connecting to different interfaces, then that is the price you need to pay for it.
