Many gadget makers are claiming their products as the world’s smallest or perhaps some will claim as world’s biggest or world’s first as long as the title sounds appealing to buyers. Sony has just rolled out a new handycam for its line, the Sony HDR-TG1 handycam and is claimed to be the world’s smallest.
The Sony HDR-TG1 handycam measures 1.3 x 4.7 x 2.5 inches and weighs a mere ten ounces. Despite its tiny size, the handycam comes with a full touchscreen at 2.7 inches,as well as MS Pro Duo and Pro Duo Mark 2 cards.
Other features that you’ll find on this super tiny cam are a 10x Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar optical zoom lens, a BIONZ processing engine, 5.1 Dolby Digital audio recording, and a 4 GB worth of memory. The little cam is capable of shooting video with 1080i and taking pictures at 4 Megapixels. There are a couple of competitors that fit into the smallest category same as this Sony HDR-TG1. Among them the known ones will be the Canon PowerShot TX1 and the new Vivatar DVR565D.
It’d be the current trend in the market which might be due to great demand from users for having handycams that easily fit in the pocket, which eases the hassle of having to carry a separate case. Too bad is the price of the Sony HDR-TG1 isn’t tiny, which costs you as much as $900.
