Apple and Foxconn are making advanced iPhone?

March 30th, 2008 by ketyung

Rumors - Apple: we most likely appoint Foxconn to manufacture the advanced iPhone
Rumors say that Apple is working on an advanced version of iPhone. According to Newswire which grabs the news from Taiwan’s Commercial Times newspaper, Apple has chosen Foxcon (aka Hon Hai Precision Industry) as their long-term parner into making the advanced iPhone.

The advanced iPhone is termed as Advanced iteration of Apple iPhone or AAPL in short, and will be exclusively manufactured by Foxconn, reported by Newswire. But both Apple and Foxconn have remained silent and chosen not to comment about it.

There is no clear information about how different the advanced iPhone is from the current version of iPhone and what the advanced features that it’ll bring to us. Guesses are it’d include 3G or higher G capabilities such as HSDPA especially doing it for the American and International networks who’re still depending on the EDGE/GPRS slow Internet with the iPhone. And there could be a switch from LCD to OLED screen.

Apple is like many other tech-giants, has jumped on the outsourcing bandwagon, which doesn’t manufacture its own gadgets. Instead, they’ll normally outsource to firms and factories in Taiwan, China or any other Asian countries for manufacturing, where advantages of cheap labor are available. Foxconn is already the existing iPhone manufacturer, so it wouldn’t be a surprise that the advanced iPhone manufacturing contract will be given to them too. Last but not least, the advanced iPhone could hit shelves as early as May 2008.
