The ApriPoko robot is an interesting little robot that will store all the remote control’s commands. After storing the remote’s commands, it can then respond to your voice. So you will no more have to use the remote control to control your TV or other gadgets. And all your gadgets will have become voice-controlled via this little robot.
In order for ApriPoko to store all the remote control information, you’ll have to train it up. The little robot is smart enough to capture all the infra-red beams, each time one passes by it. And it’ll ask you what has just happened? When you provide the information, the robot will store the command and also the infra-red signal details, which can be used at a later date.
Lets say you have a Hi-Fi stereo set sitting in your living room, and it comes with a remote control. While you’re turning up or down the volume of the stereo using the remote control of your stereo set, then ApriPoko robot will ask you what it’s for, if this is the first time for it to get to know this pattern of Infra red signal. It’ll store it after it’s been told what the signal is about. And the next time you wanna turn up or down the volume of your stereo set, you can just say it and ApriPoko will listen, capture your voice command, and beam over its own stored infra red signal to turn up and down the volume of your stereo set. Get it?
The robot measures 21 x 27 cemtimeters and weighs 2.3 kilos. And it’s still a prototype created by Toshiba. It really gives great fun having such a little interesting robot sitting in your living room, which eventually makes every gadget you have to be voice-controllable.
