These days many are following Asus’ foot step, producing laptop or UMPC in the pretty low price range of $200-$400. Another budget laptop that has grabbed some blurry shots over the past few weeks, now has been confirmed - it’s the CTL 2go PC
The CTL 2go PC is somehow having similar marketing strategy to other budget laptop makers, targeting the education market for students. The 2go PC will be retailing for around $400. By having a first look of the entire design of the laptop, it doesn’t look that appealing to most eyes. This is also one of the reasons it didn’t catch my eyes when it was floating around on many other sources.
Specification wise - the 2go PC will feature a 9 inch 800×640 LED backlit display, a 1 ghz Intel Celeron M processor, 512 mb of ram (upgradeable to 1 gb), and a 40 gb 4200 rpm 1.8 inch HD. It’d also be included with wireless G adapter, an SD/MMC card reader, a webcam, 2 USB 2.0 ports, a 3 hour battery, will ship with Windows XP (but will also support Linux). The question is whether the price $400 includes the license of the Windows XP. If so, the Linux version could be cheaper than $400. Besides, the 2go PC seems to come with a handle that is attached to the body for easy carrying. The full spec sheet is attached below.
