Speakers produce vibration when they’re blasting nice tunes for you. Why not utilize the same concept for some other purposes? That’s what Mitsumi Electric Co Ltd has done, developed a new kind of vibrator that borrows the basic principle of speaker.
The company’s vibrators basically take the principle of speaker. In speakers, a coil is attached to a diaphragm, vibrated by a permanent magnet, while current flows through the coil. Whereas, the new vibrators of Mitsumi have a weight attached to a permanent magnet and is vibrated by a coil. The company has exhibited a number of these new vibrators which some models are switchable between a speaker function and a vibrator.
The main advantage of making use the speaker’s principle to build these vibrators is vibration can be more effective by controlling the frequency to reach resonance point that reduces power consumption.
