The more you laugh perhaps would make your life happier and healthier. This is only my own perception which might not have any scientific proof. Anyway, some researchers at Kansai University in Japan have developed a Laugh-o-meter, which is a device that measures both the quantity and quality (or sincerity) of a person’s laugh.
Laughter is measurable by monitoring the amount of bioelectricity generated by various muscles of a person when he or she is laughing. The Laugh-o-meter is equipped with a series of electrode sensors that capture the laughter-generated bioelectricity and input to a computer for analysis.
The device is also intelligent enough to detect if it’s a fake laughter or a real one, by monitoring the movement of the diaphragm. High muscle vibrations indicate a genuine laugh. The researches also have plan to produce a portable version, which is meant for driving you to laugh more or your boss will use it to measure the trueness of your laugh when he breaks a joke. Perhaps, in the near future, various laughing competitions will be held across many countries.
