Macbook Air 1.8GHz SSD model gets benchmarked!

If you’re in the dilemma whether it’s worth to spend another $1,300 for an upgrade to the Macbook Air 1.8GHz SSD model. Then after reading the benchmark here, you’d probably be able to make up your mind pretty quick. First of all, we have to thank one of the MacRumors’ reader for carrying out this benchmark.

It’s obvious that you know from the processor speed that the 1.8GHz model has a 0.2GHz increase in processing speed. But the more noticeable difference is the super fast SSD (Solid State Drive) used in the 1.8GHz model. While carrying out the a Random Uncached Read test, the SSD clocks at a read speed of 48.24 MBs, whereas the hard drive of the 1.6GHz model has a read speed of 13.28 MBs only!
