Ever wonder how sophisticated today’s remote control can be? In general, they’re called DMRs (Digital Media Remotes), which are remotes that run Windows CE or other mobile OS as the operating system for controlling home theater system. And some even equipped with wireless connection and browser capabilities for you to access the Internet. The SLR 1500 DMR introduced by TVCompass is a sophisticated remote that comes with a QVGA (320 x 240) color display, equipped with wireless G and B capabilities. It’s also come with a web browser that has optional support for flash and J2ME and also a RSS reader client.
The SLR 1500 DMR allows the control of up to 24 different devices simultaneously. The SLR 1500 DMR works differently with other remotes. It downloads codes associated with new devices from branded portals instead of via infrared, which is commonly seen with other smart remotes.
Currently, the price for this sophisticated remote still remains unknown. Anyway, TVcompass will not sell it directly. The device will be marketed by satellite and cable operators, content distributors, and OEMs etc.
