Although the Macbook Air is the world’s thinnest notebook, but it still weighs about 3 pounds, which wouldn’t be the best choice for some of you who value the lightness more than the thinness. The newly announced Fujitsu’s P1620 would be a better choice for its lightness and also for those who prefer PC environment than the Mac environment. The P1620 weighs 2.2 pounds with a 3-cell battery and 2.5 pounds with a 6-cell battery.

Of course, the Fujitsu’s P1620 is an UMPCish convertible tablet, which has much smaller display – an 8.9 inch 1,280 x 768 display. The P1620 has some upgrades from the older model – the P1610, which which looks identical to the P1620. The old P1610 boasts a 1.2GHz Core Solo, 1GB memory and 80GB disk whereas the newly announced P1620 boasts a new ULV 1.2GHz U7600 Core 2 Duo processor with up to 2GB of memory and 100GB of disk.

The P1620 is asking for $1,599 for a start. You have options for upgrade such as adding another $299 for a 32GB solid state drive as the super high speed storage. $45 for a 6-cell battery if you aren’t satisfied with the included 3-cell battery that can only provide 3.5 hours under real world stress etc.
