The thinnest of the Macbook Air that can easily fit in a manila envelope, has attracted many to make comparisons with some UPMCish computers. The Asus EEE that we’ve seen before has also been picked for comparison with the Air. Isn’t it fair to have a direct comparison like that. The Air is super thin, we all know, but one great thing I like is, despite the thinnest it still offers a wide and comfortable enough screen of 13″ for the users. For some of you prefer lightness of a notebook than the thinness, of course, it’s best to go for a UMPC, if you wouldn’t mind the overly small 7-8 inch screen.

If you consider price and the lightness as the only factors that you choose a computer notebook. Definitely, the Asus EEE will win your heart. Just about the price, Apple’s Macbook Air costs you $1,799, whereas Asus EEE costs only $300-$400 (You can get 5 Asus EEE UMPCs with the price of one MacBook Air).
Anyway, here is a quick rundown made by Devindra.org for your quick reference.

Well, I think most of us would agree that Asus EEE is for the value, whereas Macbook Air is for the style.
Besides, you might wanna know more about the batteries of these two guys. According to AppleInsider, the Air doesn’t have a user-replaceable battery, whereas Asus EEE’s battery is replaceable by users. Of course, a user-replaceable gives the kind of handiness, which you can replace it with a spare battery while you’re on the road. According to various sources, Asus EEE has a an uptime of 3.5 hours on battery, whereas the Air gives 5 hours.
Anyway, if you wanna have a spare battery for the Air, and you wish to replace it by yourself, what you need is a screwdriver and be extra careful while handling it. According to AppleInsider, it takes only 3 minutes – it’s kind of easy for you open up the Air’s bottom cover by using a size-0 type philips head screwdriver and the battery is not soldered, which you can easily tug it off and it takes only three minutes…. Will this void the Apple’s Warranty?
