Fujitsu has introduced a new security device making use of vein pattern verification instead of fingerprint recognition. Of course, Fujitsu, has couple of good reasons why vein pattern verification is used. According to them, this has quite a few advantages over using fingerprints.
The vein pattern verification scanning mouse needs you to hold your hand over it for scanning instead of touching it. Which means you have less or no chance at all of contaminating the sensors with your dirty fingers.
Besides, using fingerprint verification would lead baddies to cut off a victim’s finger and use it for passing through the finger scanning. But, this nasty approach won’t work while coming to use vein pattern verification. Vein pattern verification involves capturing the image of the vein pattern. For an accurate image, it all depends on blood circulating through the body.
Anyway, using vein pattern verification for security purpose isn’t new to us. We’ve learned this before which Hitachi also had a similar concept – a security device to verify the blood vessel patterns of a finger instead of a fingerprint.
