Using light to control music sounds interesting and new to me. The SwoofTronic Pi is some kind of light-controlled sound/audio device. The device consists of two controllers (or boxes), which are equipped with light sensors. The right box is for controlling the pitch or frequency, wheareas the left box is for controlling the length of note. When more light shined on the right box, the pitch will increase. The left box will increase the note played while more light shined on it.

While the device is in your hands, you have to use your two hands to control the amount of light to reach each box to churn out a nice soothing tune. The light sensors have three working modes. First is to work with ambient light in the room. The second way is to work in complete darkness, which the LEDs on the side of each box shall come on to light up the sensor of the other box. The third way is to use a small LED key ring to change the sound.

Anyway, the device seems to be self contained enough that comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack that you can plug in an earphone to have your own solo without disturbing others.
