Tritium is the glow substance that commonly found on watches that makes the dial and the hands of a watch to glow. But most people are skeptical whether the tritium-filled watches will expose human body to any harmful radiation or not. Anyway, a company called MPK, seems to have found a better way of making use of tritium to make better glowing substance. They used a method of stuffing some tritium inside a phosphor-coated microsphere to form a new kind of glow substance, which will glow non-stop for 12 years without supplying it with energy.
The company claims that tritium can be safely contained within the microspheres that it lives inside. The final material is called Litrosphere™, which is not affected by heat or cold, can emit any color except white.
The Litrosphere can be used in the form of paint injection-molded plastics. Such as spraying it on your bike, making it the coolest bike in the dark lonely nights. It costs you as little as 35 cents for getting it to cover a standard sheet of paper. Anyway, it ain’t glow very strong, just right for use in watches, rifle scopes or for some warning or emergency signs.
