A super gadget called Bar Of Soap that holds multiple functions on one body and the uniqueness is it’ll be able to figure out what function to be delivered to you based on the way you hold it. It’s currently still in its prototype stage of a research project of MIT Media Lab.
The Bar Of Soap will operate as a camera when you hold it like a camera. When you hold it like a cellphone then it works as a cellphone. Of course, it will know when to turn itself into other gadgets such as TV remote, MP3 player based on the way you hold it. Research has shown that people have clearly distinguishable ways of holding different gadgets.
In order to be sensitive enough to detect all the different ways of holding gadgets and respond correctly, the Soap Of Bar is equipped with an accelerometer and 72 touch sensors to detect all your possible holding actions. The gadget will eventually be a plastic block, come with a touchscreen, and internal bluetooth. Although the gadget is still in its prototype stage, but it’s reportedly to have achieved about 95% of accuracy of knowing what you want.
