It’s always been my dream to digitize all the books on my book shelf and turn them into an e-book databank. It’s simply so convenient that you could have all the books in the e-book format. So, I could build a database to store, index and make all of them easily searchable and manageable. But digitizing those books is simply not an easy task. Imagine the hard work involved having to scan through those many thousands of pages of books.
BookSnap is a gadget that introduces a much faster and more efficient way to digitize your books. It’s not a scanner. Just position a book in its V-shaped cradle, its two digital cameras will then snap photos of the two pages, which is a much faster way than doing it using scanner. It comes with software that automatically cleans up and converts to PDF for you. BookSnap seems to have everything I want, the only thing it’s lacking of is a robotic arm that can flip through the pages automatically. Asking for a price $1595.00. Well, I’d say it’s worth if it came with a robotic hand for auto-flipping and swapping books.
