A few sources confirm today that there will be NO such device called “gPhone” by Google. Instead, it is an operating system based on open source, which the real intention behind is to make the mobile world to have cheaper phone calls, and much easier web browsing. This new mobile OS to be released by Google, will be under Google’s relaxed terms of an open-source license. So, other developers can view the source code and develop better apps to sit on it! Of course, this Google’s mobile OS will eventually be on all mobile platforms and it’s now been endorsed by 33 companies who make up the new Open Handset Alliance including many big players.
The Google mobile OS is expected to be available in the second half of 2008 from four major manufacturers in the alliance: Motorola, Samsung, LG and HTC. Whether you like it or not, there is NO gPhone. It’s a software, an open sourced operating system for the mobile world that makes calls cheaper and net surfing much easier! And it’s totally open for its source that allows apps freely developed for it and it’s open to freely work with any mobile network eventually!
