China's E28 to be Google phone's manufacturer?
We’re still in the puzzle whether Google is to release a Google Phone, the hardware or Google Mobile OS, the software. We’d only have the answer two weeks from now - the official answer from Google that what the Google Phone actually is! Anyway, it seems to be pretty hot over the blogosphere that there is a belief that it would be a hardware and Google phone is to be manufactured by the Chinese phone manufacturer E28. Or the E28 is one of the few suitable candidates as the manufacturer of Google’s gPhone!

The belief of why Google chose E28 as the manufacturer of its gPhone would be due to the few reasons as follows:

  • The Chinese E28’s series of phones run Linux OS. Google wants it open source so others could freely develop more apps for it!

  • They have the emphasis on “Era of Convergence” including plan for robust wireless VoIP system with their cellphones, according to its website.

  • The E28 has been testing GSM/VoIP interoperability over WLAN and cellular network.
  • In short, phone produced by E28 would be another iPhone killer that Google wants. Imagine a phone that makes calls using a low cost VOIP system on cellular networks and WIFI while seamlessly integrating data across diverse technology platforms.
