Internet speed breakthrough: 250 mbps over existing copper wires!

October 26th, 2007 by ketyung

Internet speed breakthrough, 250 mbps can be done over copper wires!
Certainly, we will always need much higher Internet speed than what we have now. But the ISPs seem to be having problem to get us better speed with reasonable price as higher speed over 100Mbps could only be achieved using overly expensive optical fiber cables. But now, it seems like much higher speed could be done using the existing copper or telephone lines and we surely have to thank the super hero behind, Dr John Papandriopoulos.

Dr John Papandriopoulos has filed patent applications in the United States and Australia for a new type of technology that will deliver speeds of up to 250 mbps over good old copper lines. Yes, it’s 250 mbps, which is at least 100 times or more faster than what most geeks have for their home Internet broadband. The secret behind Dr John’s achievement is that he managed to develop a solution that removes the telephone interference that slows down broadband connections. And the interesting part is the solution is software-based. For the ISP to boost its broadband speed, what they’ll need to do is to install this software into existing telephone exchanges and modems, without having to spend too much cost for changing the hardware. This is certainly a a great news. Hope this technology will be adopted by the rest of world soon, besides only for Australia and the States.
