
Sharp has successfully developed a 2.2-inch super thin LCD display for mobile devices, which is claimed to be the world’s thinnest that has a thickness of 0.68 mm only. The new Sharp Mobile Advanced Super View LCD is made based on Sharp’s proprietary fabrication techniques for thin LCDs, especially the glass substrate and backlight technologies. Despite being extremely thin, this LCD is capable of producing image quality close to what an LCD TV offers. It boasts the amazing features of high contrast ratio of 2000:1, wide viewing angle of 176°, and fast response speed of 8 ms, which are the highest in the industry.
Mobile devices are finding all possible ways in sizing down, especially for their thicknesses for better and stylish look. This definitely makes a high demand for much thinner embedded components such as LCDs. Besides, also the increase in demand for mobile devices to support the One-Seg (terrestrial digital broadcast), which needs high image quality and greater visibility in the displays for the mobile devices.
