WiMax is now officially part of 3GThe ITU (International Telecom Union) has officially confirmed to include WiMax as one of the 3G tecnologies for the 2.5 GHz spectrum. When there is a little extra feature added to the 3G, of course it will trigger a different versioning for it from the carriers and public. The carriers and the public both are refering the 3G that features WiMax as the 4G standard. But, ITU still defines it as 3G. Anyway, WiMax is the first non-cellular tech to get approval as 3G. And it’s aslo expected that 3G spectrum will soon be able to start building out WiMAX networks without additional regulations, as the ITU’s decisions will usually get enacted by governments.
