We’re all used to music stores to sell singles on CDs, but Universal Music seems to have taken a step ahead of everyone, selling singles on USB memory sticks instead.
This new format is an attempt of offering digital audio formats that are popular among the 12 to 24 year old crowd and with a hope to save the declining music sales.
The price of the USB single is more expensive than a CD single. A CD single currently costs around $6, whereas the USB single is asking for more than $10 each, which is almost double the price of a CD single. Anyway, this new way of releasing single is in USB memory stick is a hope to save the declining music sales caused by both illegal and legal music downloads in recent years. According to Times Online UK says that CD sales are down in the UK by 10% and in the U.S. by 19%.
