When you’re short of idea what look or shape you should give to a gadget that you’re designing, you could probably dig from any of the materials and components that you’re gonna use for building it. That’s most probably how the designer of these big LED lamps grabbed his idea for building them. The lamps shown in the picture look like giant LEDs are creation of designer Kei Yamamoto. Each giant LED lamp is made from acrylic, aluminum and a dozen of LEDs as the light source. And each has the size of about 20-times the size of a normal light-emitting diode.

The lamp’s special arrangement of LEDs and its clear acrylic shell make some beautiful projection of pattern on the wall above it. These gigantic LEDs were one of the shortlisted entries in the Gwangju Biennale Foundation’s bright LED competition which recently wrapped up in Korea – the show that gathered over 3400 designers to showcase numerous LED arts and designs.
