It’s only a matter of time that our cellphone will be used as one convenient portable banking tool i.e. your cellphone will handle all your bank account transactions such as for paying your bills, or use it as a credit card or electronic wallet. Of course, many countries haven’t really embarked on this idea, due to many security concerns behind need to be taken care before the real implementation.
Anyway, Philippines is the country that is pretty aggressive on making use of our cell to also act as the electronic wallet that lets us pay the bills and meals. The two biggest mobile service providers in Philippines, Globe Telecom and Smart Communications, have taken steps to promote e-commerce using cellphones. Would this have any impact to the users’ spending habit?
