So, you have couple of old hard disks chuck in around the corners in your store, but you’re simply a bit reluctant to dump them just like that. But if you’re brainy enough, perhaps, you could follow what some smart geeks do i.e. turn them into a clock, to let you be aware of time is precious.
Here is a DIY product, a clock that is made of an old hard disk with the guts stripped off. The hard disk clock is the product of some builders from Germany. They disassembled this old 5-1/4″ hard drive, readjusted its motor to let the platter run at a speed that corresponds to the hours, whereas the read-write head is modified to move 60 steps per hour to indicate the minutes. The entire clock is simply made of cheap and all recycled parts. Although the entire concept is cool, but I don’t like the kind of retro look presented by this hard-disk-derived clock.
