Bees can be trained to sniff out explosives…perhaps drugs too.

Bees can be trained to sniff out explosives...perhaps drugs too.
We’ve always heard that dogs can be trained to sniff out drugs, bombs etc. But have you heard of bees can be trained to do so as well ? Whether you believe it or not, Inscentinel is the company that is eagerly developing such a new method of sniffing out explosives by using bees.

The method used is actually to lure bees with food, so they will stick out their tongues when they detect certain smells. In such a way the bees are able to identify whether there are any explosives, or any suspicious drugs and food etc. The bee is supposed to be loaded onto a cartridge, which can be toted around in a handheld vapor detector and used in the field.

The above picture shows how the bees are being tied up on the little detectors. It looks like they are under some kind of tortures. But the company reports on its website saying that “Bees are happy undertaking their sniffing tasks and are comfortable throughout, only healthy bees work effectively”. Hey, are you sure?
