Beat Dress is the kind of luminous dress that pulses according the rhythm of music. The Beat Dress is meant to have more fun at those night clubs or disco places. Most people around at night clubs are simply sitting round the corners, sipping their beer and aren’t dancing at all. Having Beat Dress on you’ll feel the fun how the light pulses along with the music beat, which tends to push you to the dance floor to get you going with the music.
The dress consists of 4 layers of cloth, and it’s got 10 layers of detachable patches, which each equipped with 10 LEDs that make up a total of 100 LEDs on this special dress. Each of these patches has a wire that is connected to a battery which is hidden in a pocket. Besides the dress is also equipped with a microphone and a small equalizer that are connected to a mini computer. There are also a nylon cloth and two see-through cloth layers that spread the lights of the LEDs to larger clusters.
When you’re in a night club or disco that music beat is hot, the microphone and equalizer on Beat Dress will pick up the rhythm of the music and then get it quickly analyzed by the mini computer to flash those LEDs according the music beat. The microphone is also adjustable for its sensitiveness to suit with the loudness of sounds around you.
Beat Dress is currently still a prototype developed at the course of Fashion & Technology at the School of Arts and Communication at Malmö University. Don’t you think it’s got a pretty high potential to go for production run?
