Google Earth is now Google Universe?

Google Earth is now Google Universe?
Google seems to have taken another big step, it has expanded the way for its Google Earth to allow you to zoom into the universe. While it’s still at the earlier version, called Sky instead of Google Universe, allows users to view the skies as seen from the Earth!

The Sky application allows users to explore the universe from the comfort of your chair. Users can zoom in very detailed even up to those galaxies that are many millions light years away. And many exciting moments with the universe such as the constellations, seeing the planets in motion, even witnessing a supernova explosion are all possible with Sky.

To use the Sky, you have to download the latest version of Google Earth. Then go to the toolbar at top of the screen and choose “Switch to Sky mode”. Yes! Exploring the millions of stars up in the sky was one of my childhood hobbies. Now, I can do it so easy just at my work desk using my computer.

According to TechCrunch, the space imaginary of Google Earth comes from various sources that include over one million photographs from those including Sloan Digital Sky Survey, the Palomar Observatory at the California Institute of Technology and the Hubble Telescope. Any possibility of a future improved version that allows us to interfere the alien nations?

I am a director of SKY-MAP.ORG. Go to http://www.sky-map.org and you will see that what Google has just announced already exists in web-based version for about a year. We have SDSS, IRAS, and H-Alpha surveys integrated in our system and we have 100s of millions of objects mapped. Only for HDF we have > 10.000 galaxies mapped. We also have articles related to hundreds of thousands of objects and many features that Google doesn’t have. We would be happy to find a way to cooperate with Google.
