UMPC has been in the market for quite some time. If it’s because of pricing issue that you haven’t got your first UMPC and you’ve been eyeing for the possibility of some price drop later. Now, you don’t have to wait any longer. As ASUS has just announced a new line of its UMPC, called Eee, which falls in the very affordable price range. The ASUS Eee UMPC comes with a few versions that go pretty low price, which you can get one as low as $200 only.
But it seems to be a rumor is telling the low-priced versions will not be available in the States. The States most likely will get the versions that will cost around $400. Bear in mind, with such a low price of $200 only, you shouldn’t expect any high performance to come with the ASUS Eee UMPC. The specs that can be expected on the Eee line will be a small 7″ LCD display, 512MB RAM, small 4GB flashed-based hard drive and WiFi.
Anyway, no worry, ASUS has definitely reserved rooms for upgrade of the RAM and storage, which is only a matter of paying more for it. The UMPC is planned to weigh around two pounds and will be an inch or less in thickness. This ultra compact computer with the amount of RAM and storage should be sufficient for you to run Window XP comfortably. Chatting, surfing the net, updating your blog and run Microsoft Office applications shouldn’t be any big issue on it. It’s simply handy to carry around an UMPC, so anytime if any fancy idea flashes across your mind, you can quickly pick a nearby hotspot cafe to sit down and post it onto your blog.
