You’d be wondering how those earlier generations of people managed to get up from bed so early in order not to be late for work. They all relied on the sun. When the sun was climbing up the hill from the east, the sunlight will gradually reach their bed side. That’s the natural alarm clock that used to wake them up from bed. I guess those older generations should have had fresher and healthier days than us - the modern folks who always get woken up by alarm clock that either produces an annoying “ding” sound or simply the one that shakes your bed!
