The components used as the display of those old-day calculators back in 1969 were the kind of nixie tubes – the very old-fashioned neon display tubes. Now some brainy guys have made use of these obsolete nixie tubes to make up the design of a wristwatch for the 21st century. The watch is made up of two user-replaceable nixie tubes, which each tube shows only one number. The watch is capable of displaying up to two digits only, so meaning you’d be getting only the hours but neither the minutes nor the seconds? No, you can simply switch between hours, minutes and seconds, by just having a flick of the wrist in sequence. The source code of the watch’s firmware has been published under GPL license too, so you can make a little twist if you know what to do for it.
